Day of the Dead - Slow Food Santa Fe Way!

A N O T H E R   W O N D E R F U L   P O T L U C K

Slow Food Santa FE hosted their annual Day of the Dead feast and
it was a hit! Everyone brought their favorite made-from-scratch
dish - Vegetarian Posole to Lamb Mole Chile. There was a festive Altar, and Santa Fe Chocolate Historian, Mark
Sciscenti, offered tastings of ancient chocolate elixirs.

Potluck this year!

Honoring the food traditions of Day of the Dead,
please bring
a dish to share -
a mole dish, a rice dish, tortillas, a salad,
a vegetable, agua frescas, desserts.

So that we do NOT overlap with 20 desserts
or 20 stacks of tortillas,

please coordinate with
Carol Shriver, Slow Food Chapter Leader.
Let Carol know what you will bring,
at slowfoodsantafe@gmail.com.

Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Mexican Americans living in the U.S. and in Canada. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased, and bringing favorite foods and beverages to the grave sites of the departed. Scholars trace the origins of the modern holiday to indigenous observances dating back thousands of years, and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl.

We will have music and children's activities.

Our very own professional photographer, Cynthia Whitney-Ward is putting together a beautiful Day of the Dead altar, with photos, candles and flowers. Please bring photos of loved ones who have passed on.
Check out Cynthia's photos at www.chasingsantafe.com

Tickets: $10 adults, $5 children, children under 7 free
